Eclipse Season, the Equinox, and… My Birthday
Big shifts are on the horizon: a full moon lunar eclipse, the spring equinox, and my birthday (woot!). While my personal solar return probably won’t shake the world, the eclipse and equinox just might.
The Season of Growth… and Reckoning
In Chinese medicine, spring is about transition and transformation. We move from winter’s quiet, inward focus into an outward expansion—growth, movement, change. It’s the season of stretching toward the sun, whether we’re talking about plants or people.
But not all growth is comfortable. Lunar eclipses tend to reveal hard truths. They expose what isn’t working, what’s been hidden, and what we can no longer ignore. This particular eclipse is like the universe holding up a mirror, urging us to let go of what’s stunting our growth.
On a personal level, that might mean coming to terms with outdated beliefs, relationships we’ve outgrown, or habits that keep us stuck. On a collective level… well, take a look around. There’s a lot that isn’t working—systems that don’t serve the people, narratives that keep us divided. My cautiously optimistic heart dares to hope that this eclipse brings a reckoning, not just for individuals, but for communities, and maybe even entire societies.
A Birthday Wish
My wish for this year (aside from a delicious GF/DF cake) is simple: that we all find the courage to release what’s hindering us. That we stop clinging to what we’ve outgrown.
That we make space for something better.
Unwanted Side Effects (Not Just for Meds!)
Of course, big transitions come with side effects. If you’re feeling restless, sleepless, or a bit unhinged, you’re not alone. Shifts like these stir things up—internally, externally, energetically.
How to Navigate the Chaos
First, take care of your body. Listen to what it’s telling you. Stop a few times a day and check in with yourself: Do you need water or something to eat? Do you need rest? A break from screens? Time outside? Seasonal transitions can weaken the immune system, making now the perfect time to strengthen it. And let’s not forget allergies—spring flowers are lovely, but they can turn half the population into sniffling, miserable messes. (We can help with that. Book a session.)
Second, lean into support. Big change doesn’t have to be navigated alone. Make time for the important people and communities in your life. We’re hosting a group acupuncture event later this month—a chance to reset, rebalance, and move through this season with a little more ease.
Lastly, embrace the mess. Growth isn’t linear, and letting go isn’t always graceful. The eclipse might bring clarity, or it might just bring confusion. Either way, trust the process.
Here We Go! (Wheeeee!)
To all my fellow Pisces swimming through these transformative waters, happy birthday!
And to everyone ready to release and renew under this lunar spotlight, here's to embracing change with open arms, a good night’s rest, and clear sinuses.
(And if you’re not ready? That’s okay, too. The tides will turn, whether we fight them or flow with them.)
Let us know in the comments what’s shifting for you. What is calling to you to be released?
With you in solidarity and support during messy times,
Nikki Seals, Lac
